Dear fellow Kansas homeschoolers,

While many of us are encouraged by our own freedom to home educate and its result, it is no secret that by most measures, we are loosing the cultural battle. This affects us all and will profoundly affect our children as they grow and seek to raise their children. Too often we are ignorant about what is happening around us.  Here is a chance to learn more about the battle around us.

Attached is a flyer and below is the schedule of speakers for the upcoming Kansas Family Issues Forum to be held in Topeka on March 30-31. The theme of the forum is the cultural war and the battle for the next generation. Kent Vincent has been instrumental in setting up the event. It is a unique opportunity to become better educated on these issues.

Please pass the word to others you think might be interested.

Prayers for Dan Groot

Dan and Karen Groot are homeschooling parents in Salina:
 FW S.V.H.E. Basketball Families -

Dan Groot, one of the Boy's basketball coaches, was involved in an
accident at their farm today.  They were burning limbs, and Dan's
clothes caught on fire, burning about 20% of his body.  He was flown
to Wichita, where he is in the St. Francis burn unit.  At this time,
it sounds as though he is going to be OK, although with this type of
burn there is a chance for infection.  What I have been told at this
point is that he's probably going to have to be in the burn unit for
several weeks.  Please pray for his recovery, and for the family.
Thanks
RussN

------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you so much for praying for Dan Groot.
Karen is staying in Wichita at the Ronald McDonald House
Dan's parents and sister and her husband took the kids down to see him
yesterday.
That seemed to help them see their Dad.
Joshua and Andrea saw him on fire so this was especially hard on them.

Dan has 2nd degree burns on his chest, face, upper arms and under his right
arm  towards the back.
His hands were burnt and they think they will have to do skin graft on the
back of his right hand.
They will re-evaluate this again tomorrow.

They try to keep him comfortable and will probably start on some physical
therapy tomorrow

Thank you so much for praying for him and his family.
We are so thankful that it was not any worse.
God is so good.

Dan's Mom
